70s Dance Party — Save the Date!!

Get out your boogie shoes and be ready to dance the night away!

Growing Our Own Teachers on Kauai is throwing a 70s Dance Party on Friday, June 30, 2023 to fundraise for our cause! Save the date! There will be costume contests, DJ music, and (of course) lots of dancing.

Costume contests are for Best 70s Costume, Best 70s Couple, and Best Hippie! You can sign up for the contests inside the venue. Great prizes will be awarded!!

More details and tickets for the event are coming soon, so stay tuned to our social media pages (Facebook & Instagram) and our web site.

Refreshments and alcohol will be available; so you must be at least 21 years old to attend.

We are holding the fundraising party at the Kauai Philippine Cultural Center in Lihue (map). Moneys raised will fund stipends for deserving student teachers who need financial assistance for their final semester when they do their student teaching.

We are looking forward to providing a night full of fun to Kauai’s community! So, pull out those dancing shoes and get ready to boogie!!

Upcoming Content & Current Activities

Aloha kākou.

As we build our website, we will add important news and announcements to our blog. You can find new teaching projects, ideas, and news here in the upcoming months.  We will also include announcements regarding open grant application periods and the recipients of those funds.

Currently, we are restructuring and creating a new strategic plan to better serve the student teachers and our community.  We have a critical shortage of teachers here on Kauai which leads to larger classrooms and less one-on-one time for our children in school. Many classrooms are being filled by unlicensed or substitute teachers.  This is an urgent issue and we are working to determine the best ways in which we can help.

In the near future, we will be talking to principals and teachers to get their ideas on the matter and any suggestions for solutions. This is an ongoing challenge and we will address it as we move forward.

Stay tuned for more as we grow our own website!
